WORK MEASUREMENT
Work measurement provides valuable insight into the labour component of production and administrative operations.
Once we understand complex tasks using work measurement techniques, we assess performance against realistic expectations. We can then systematically identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
ProSolve's expert analysis and implementation of time study and work measurement standards achieves accurate benchmarks and successful results for you.
What is the Process?
Depending on your specific process, ProSolve will use one
or
more of the following approaches to conduct work measurement.
What is Work Measurement?
Work measurement is the process to establish the required time for a qualified worker to complete a task at a defined performance level.
What Are the Benefits?
Work measurement benefits a wide range of
applications:
• Planning the
appropriate staffing levels to satisfy operational demands,
while minimizing
labour cost;
• Creating
individual and / or departmental performance baselines
(useful in implementing
performance-based incentive programs);
• Quantifying the
cost (and feasibility) of producing a new product
or delivering a new service
to customers;
• Identifying
opportunities to reduce the cycle time of processes
and improve productivity;
• Finding and addressing
process bottlenecks;
• Determining the
cycle times required to create a computer simulation.

Time Study
We determine task durations by observing and timing employees, then apply appropriate performance ratings and allowances.
We use specialized handheld devices with software to increase the speed and accuracy of the data collection and analysis process.
MOST® Work Measurement System
We establish task durations using the “Maynard Operation Sequence Technique”.
This work measurement system is fast to apply, has a high level of accuracy, and is a globally applied and accepted method of establishing labour standards.
It can even be used in the planning stage for processes that do not yet exist.
Occurrence Sampling
We define various states (working, setup, changeover, idle, other activities) and sample the frequency that each state occurs through random observation.
